As 2012 approaches, the petrol heads amongst us will already be anticipating the best cheap car loans the New Year may bring in its wake. Which, of course, raises the question of the best cheap car to go with that car finance deal. Maybe one manufacturer to watch out for in 2012 is Renault, and especially the revamped Renault Clio, which is rumoured to be unveiled at the Paris Road Show in September.
Tekkies will be tickled by the innovative inclusion of a fully-functional, embedded tablet in the cabin. Renault has recently drawn the veils away from its new “R-Link” technology – a single, seven-inch touchscreen tablet, integrating navigation, entertainment and social functions. It is voice-activated too, so you can literally tell it what you want it to do (you can control it from the steering wheel and the touchscreen itself as well). Fifty apps are expected to be available with the launch of the new Clio.
But what about the car itself? Like the famous Time Lord, Renault’s supermini will take on its fourth “regeneration” in 2012 and will include an exciting electric version. The new vehicles will be ready to purchase next November, so you’ve got 11 months to sort out your car finance. The new contours have a distinctly aggressive edge, and even the high-performance “Renaultsport Clio” will only be available in a five-door model. Clever design tricks will, we understand, make it look like a three-door.
As well as the new electric version, traditional petrol and diesel-engine models will continue to be available, but CO2 emissions and fuel consumption will be appreciably reduced through the addition of engine stop-start systems.
