In this era of relatively cheap car loans, it makes sense to sometimes spoil yourself a bit and buy a car that you would otherwise never have considered. The limited edition Renault Wind Gordini might be one of those cars: at £15,195 for the 1.2-litre entry level model it is not the country’s cheapest car, but it is definitely not your run-of-the-mill Japanese runabout.
The car recently made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, where it created quite a stir among Renault fans.
As with other cars in the Wind range, Gordini buyers have a choice of a 1.2 litre or a 1.6 litre petrol engine. Power output is 100bhp and 130bhp respectively. Both cars are front-wheel drive and have five-speed manual gearboxes.
At the same time Renault has decided to drop the prices of the existing Wind models. The 1.2-litre Dynamique now only costs £12,995.
The Wind Gordini does not differ mechanically from the standard cars – differences are cosmetic and include a range of three exterior colours – black, white or blue, a set of stripes, 17-inch alloy wheels and Gordini badges on the side pillars.
Inside the cabin you will find seats that are embossed with Gordini badges, a silver plaque to indicate that this is a limited edition model and even a gear lever with a Gordini badge.
Renault will only build 200 of these limited edition cars, so if the Gordini sounds like your kind of wheels, you had better do something about it rather quickly.
