Renault has always had a rather pioneering spirit when it comes to car design. Their new all-electric Frendzy will be no exception to that rule. It will be a compact commercial, yet it has also been designed to be a comfortable family car.
The French car manufacturer will launch four full production electric vehicles before the end of next year. The company says the Frendzy is for the working man or woman who wants a flexible vehicle, just as the Capture represents the freedom to explore and the EV DE Zir represents the idea of love. If that does not make sense, blame the French.
The whole idea behind the Frendzy was to develop a vehicle that would be adaptable to modern life where there is often little distinction between work and play. With more and more people working from home, there is obviously a need for a dual-purpose vehicle that can seamlessly switch from being a workhorse to being a fun family car.
Renault’s Senior Vice President of Design, Laurens van den Acker says “Frendzy is the fourth vehicle to illustrate Renault’s new design strategy, a series that started with DeZir. It takes an original and innovative stance on the world of light commercial vehicles.”
On weekdays the Frendzy will be the perfect light commercial vehicle, complete with a large external screen for displaying advertisements. On weekends it will turn into a family car with a large bench seat at the rear for the children, where they can watch films or play games.
