Dealers across the country have been stocking up on the first examples of the new-shape five-door Ibiza models from Seat.
The first 28 approved used cars were auctioned off to dealers at a recent event, as part of a bigger sale of nearly 140 vehicles.
Prices were driven up by "fast and furious" bidding, seeing models average out at 115 per cent in Cap clean prediction.
Vehicles that achieve 105 per cent are seen as having a strong performance, so the models going above this figure are clearly in demand.
David Ardern, used car manager at SEAT UK, said that the auction results were surprising despite expectations that the event would be busy.
"There's clearly massive demand for the Ibiza five-door, in both new and used form and that's great news not just for us but for buyers who can reasonably look forward to a robust residual value when they come to trade in their car for their next new or approved used SEAT," he added.
Recently, British Car Auctions claimed that the price of used 4x4 models had buoyed to the same levels as last year.
