More Dealerships In The Pipeline For Seat

Feb 7 2011 More Dealerships In The Pipeline For Seat Image

The managing director of Seat UK, Peter Wyhinny, recently announced that the company has plans to expand its dealer network in the UK with at least another twelve in the near future. The aim is to bring both service centres and retail outlets closer to customers. Buyers using car finance who are looking to buy a Seat will no doubt welcome this move.

The company already has a network of 122 dealers after it embarked on a major growth programme during 2010. Wyhinny feels that the additional 12 outlets will put the company in an even better position to service existing and new customers, including users of car finance.

In an interview Wyhinny said that there were still parts of the UK where Seat was under-represented. As examples he mentioned Manchester and London. Some of the new outlets will almost certainly be located in these cities.

Seat is currently doing very well in the UK. During 2010 it enjoyed record sales and captured 1.6% of the market - its best ever result. Wyhinny is convinced, however, that this market share can be increased to around 3% with a bigger dealer network, without the company even having to introduce major new models.

"We are only scratching the surface of what we can do with the current cars. We haven't run out of steam. There is no reason we couldn't do between 2.5% and 3% of the UK market. The challenge is to get ourselves on people's shopping lists" he said.

The company does not plan any significant changes to its model line-up for 2011, although it plans to release a small car aimed at city users during 2012. Car finance buyers might be interested to hear that this model will be based on the Volkswagen Up. A 4x4 model is also a distinct possibility in the foreseeable future, according to Wyhinny.
