SEAT hopes to experience strong growth in the Chinese market in future. The car maker will showcase both the Ibiza and the Leon at next week's Shanghai Auto Show.
SEAT has of course had mixed fortunes in the recent past. Although some of their car models, including the Leon, are very popular with car finance drivers, the manufacturer is making a loss at present. Their entry into the Chinese market is an attempt to reverse that situation.
In the UK market SEAT experienced a very good spring indeed. The brand now hopes to continue this success in the Chinese market by exposing the design-conscious Chinese car finance customers to their Leon and Ibiza models. With the current trend being very much towards high-spec saloons, we can expect that the company will soon also launch the Exeo in China.
James Muir, Chairman of SEAT had this to say "the Chinese market offers a great opportunity. SEAT is synonymous with design, being young in spirit and sportiness, attributes which are greatly appreciated in China."
SEAT will initially concentrate on high performance, high spec versions of the Leon and Ibiza in the Chinese car finance market. The company obviously hopes that its particular brand of Southern European styling will appeal to Chinese buyers. If one looks at how successful Audi and other top end brands are in that country, SEAT definitely stands a good chance of repeating their success.
The company also plans to expand their operations into Central America. This follows after it received strong sales in the Mexican market.
