Many UK car credit buyers will be delighted to hear that Seat plans to follow a more aggressive marketing approach in future. The company plans to release at least four new models within the next 12 months.
James Muir, president of Seat, says that currently the company relies much too heavily on sales of a single model - the Ibiza. According to Muir there is currently a certain inconsistency in the company's range of cars. To change this situation, it is imperative for the company to diversify their product range.
He continued "Where do Leon and Altea sit in their segments? In the past we have sometimes invented segments but all our new products will be firmly anchored in established areas of the market."
Muir went on to say that the company plans to bring out the Leon in three-door, five-door and wagon versions. This should go a long way to improving the car's popularity among UK car credit buyers and bring sales closer to that of the Ibiza.
Muir also added that the company needs to think about an SUV. He added that Seat needed to move away from short term thinking and "flights of fancy" that only served to harm their image among UK car credit customers.
Seat's showcase car at the Geneva Motor Show was of course the IBX concept car, which is, to quote Muir "not a flight of fancy".
Muir has already taken up some of his ideas for the future with the new management team at Seat.
