Subaru WRX STI – Improved design for better road handling

Mar 29 2010
When a particular car model makes a name for itself and becomes the favourite choice in terms of ride performance and consumer preference due to easy car loan and car credit schemes, the car manufacturer is tempted to tweak the model and redesign it to come up with variants that is also expected to become as popular as the original model.

This can misfire sometimes and the manufacturer may have to go back to the drawing board to meet public demand and expectations. That is what seems to have happened with the Subaru WRX STI. This vehicle was a favourite as long as the Japanese car maker maintained its two door box look. However, when they changed it to a five door hatchback, the change was not appreciated and the strong clamour for a return back to the two door version saw the automaker come up with a sleeker STI. They made the necessary changes in its fenders and the rear doors and also positioned the engine at the rear of the driver to distribute the weight in a better fashion. This has led to better road handling and though they have had to make changes to the roof and rear panels, the end result is now far more acceptable to the public and is sure to reflect in good sales volume.
