Car Finance customers have helped sales of a unique hybrid technology car pass the one million mark for the first time.
TOYOTA has announced 1,028,000 Prius models have been sold so far, with car loan customers helping to take its UK sales total to 23,893.
The company said the worldwide figure meant the model had now produced around 4.5 million tonnes less CO2 when compared to conventional petrol-powered vehicles in the same class and of similar size and driving performance.
Toyota said: "Prius sales are strong in more than 40 countries and regions, including over 100,000 cumulative sales in Europe."
The model has proved a hit with emission-conscious car loan customers, and uses the combination of a petrol engine and an electric motor to improve efficiency.
London drivers have been particularly keen on the model as it is exempt from the capital's congestion charging system.
Toyota says the Prius will still qualify for this exemption after the charge becomes a combined congestion and CO2 fee in October.
