In its list of the best used cars to buy this month, Parker's Car Price Guide has recommended buyers consider two family vehicles from Japanese manufacturers HONDA and Toyota.
Those conducting a Used Car Search for a family car may want to invest in a Honda Stream, which is likely to cost £3,000, the guide suggested.
Honda's seven-seater based on the Civic is "well equipped" and is "more responsive" than Vauxhall's own seven-seater, the Zafira.
Parker's said a number of average mileage cars are available, noting that the 2.0 SE Sport may be good value for money as it comes with alloys, automatic climate control and front and side airbags.
Meanwhile, the 2003 TOYOTA Avensis may also prove a popular choice for used car buyers, having achieved high scores in many surveys since it was first launched, Parker's claimed.
A "comfortable and spacious" car, the Avensis is "one of the most reliable cars on the road", the publication asserted.
Parker's found a 1.8 T2 hatchback with nearly 50,000 miles on the clock priced at £3,775 and a higher-spec 2.0-litre saloon for £3,990.
The organisation recently warned against increasing their mortgages in order to finance their next car purchase.
It said car values are likely to fall, yet borrowers will be left with higher payments to meet.
