TOYOTA has revealed its top-selling hybrid range of new cars for sale will be manufactured in North America for the first time.
Car Finance customers who have already snapped up a Prius model could be interested to know the car is to be built in the USA from 2010.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi (TMMMS) was due to start building the Highlander SUV that year but will instead begin constructing the low-emission vehicle.
Toyota said: "The production of the Prius at TMMMS is to represent the second Toyota hybrid vehicle produced in North America, where Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, already produces the Camry Hybrid."
According to the company, the decision to build the unique hybrid in Mississippi was driven by increased customer demand.
The Prius is driven by the combination of a traditional petrol engine and an electric motor, delivering high fuel efficiency, low CO2 emissions and low running noise.
