Production at Toyota Back to Normal

May 23 2011 Production at Toyota Back to Normal Image

According to an announcement by Toyota, its European plants will all be back to normal production by the 1st June 2011.

Most of the company’s plants in Europe, including those at Deeside and Burnaston in the UK, have been working at reduced levels after shortages developed as a result of the earthquake/tsunami disaster in Japan.

This means that production levels at European Toyota plants will be back to normal sooner that anticipated.  This elicited praise from John Williams, the UK MD of the company.

He said: “This is great news for our customers and for our dealer partners – I want to thank our colleagues in manufacturing…….for finding solutions in such a short period of time.”

Williams added that the quick turnaround was a testament to what he referred to as the “extraordinary” abilities of Toyota staff.  He expressed satisfaction with the fact that UK dealers will now once again be able to offer Toyota buyers normal lead times for their vehicles to be delivered.

Toyota’s UK plant at Deeside in Flintshire manufactures only engines, while the Burnaston plant in Derbyshire produces the Auris, Auris HSD and Avensis models.

The company’s engine plant in Poland is now also back to normal production levels, as is the plant in Turkey that produces Verso and Auris models.  The plant in France, which manufacturers the Toyota Yaris, has been back to full production since the 16th May.

Those car finance buyers who have been on a waiting list for a new Toyota will undoubtedly be happy with the latest news.
