Toyota – Still battling with problems

Mar 16 2010 For somebody like Steve Wozniak of Apple fame, the recent problem he faced with the accelerator of his Toyota Prius, which he must have definitely bought without making use of any car loan scheme is something he wants to put down to bad software and not a mechanical problem per se with the accelerator itself. While many would argue that coming from Steve, that was to be expected, it does present a new face and a possible solution to the problems that Toyota has been facing of late with its vehicles. Of course, the Prius is not one amongst those that have been scheduled for a recall, but nevertheless, it is quite disconcerting for the reputed auto maker to run into problems like this so often of late and is certainly not something that die hard Toyota fans would have expected.

This has been brought to attention even earlier by two competent administrators from the NHTSA, who also believed that it was the software that was causing all the problems. However, when somebody like Steve says it, the credibility and seriousness attached to the comment acquires a new meaning.

The software guru has hinted at a greater possibility of a computer error, since the engine essentially goes by the software inputs it receives from the gas pedal.
