VAUXHALL has launched one of its new cars for sale with an eye-catching stunt which involved the vehicle being dropped from a height of 45 metres.

Car loan customers interested in the new Insignia could have glimpsed the model fall from a 4.7-metre orb in six seconds close to Tower Bridge in London.

A team of 60 people worked to plan, set up and execute the safe drop from a crane suspension on July 21st.

GM Europe chief marketing officer for Alain Visser said: "We are very proud of the Insignia and decided that an extraordinary car needed an extraordinary entrance, that's why we chose to drop in at one of London's most frequented and iconic locations."

UK sales have already started for both the hatchback and notchback versions of the car, which is available with a choice of five engines.

All meet Euro five emissions standards and come with six-speed transmissions in either manual or automatic.

Vauxhall is also launching the new Agila model, a five-door car designed to provide affordability and ease of parking.
