The new VAUXHALL Insignia has been given the stamp of approval by the UK police force, which has chosen the model for its officers.
Parent company GM UK Special Vehicles has unveiled the new police specification version of the Sports Tourer, demonstrating the car's high performance standards.
"We've had a great response from professional police drivers, who have compared its performance and handling characteristics to those of more expensive premium-badged vehicles used by some forces," said Dick Ellam, GM UK's manager of vehicle conversions.
"In these tough economic times, when police forces are spending public money, this makes the Insignia an even more appealing option," he added.
The move could encourage more people in the used car market to purchase a Vauxhall, as they look to the reliability that the vehicle can offer the police.
Earlier this week Vauxhall unveiled the first pictures of its new-look Astra model.
The latest incarnation of the popular vehicle will be on display for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year, before arriving on forecourts across Europe by the end of 2009.
