A new version of a VOLKSWAGEN model which first appeared in the 1970s is to be tested in an endurance race.
Although not yet on sale, the Volkswagen Scirocco will line up with around 200 other cars at the Nurburgring 24-hour race in Germany later this month.
It is the latest landmark for a car first conceived in 2006, with three factory racing versions set to appear on the famous track and catch the interest of Car Finance customers looking for a new vehicle.
Volkswagen motorsport director Kris Nissen said: "The racing version of the Scirocco was developed and prepared by our technical staff in record time and we are well on schedule."
Car loan customers who own a Golf GTI could be interested to know a version of their vehicle finished top of it class in the same event last year.
The Scirocco was first seen in 1974 and later went out of production before designers decided to re-invent for the 21st century.
It has taken Volkswagen two years to get to this point with the new-look Scirocco finally expected to go on sale later this summer.
