Volkswagen Golf diesel pricing announced
Apr 21 2009 VOLKSWAGEN has announced the pricing for its diesel Golf GTD in the UK.
The new performance vehicle is now available to order in the UK, with the first ones being shipped in June this year.
Starting at £21,850 on the road, the new model includes a refined 2.0-litre (1,968cc) common rail TDI engine, which is capable of achieving 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 138mph.
Among the design features inside the Golf GTD are a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a leather gearshift and a standard tartan interior.
Interest in the new model could also increase the availability of used cards, as more motorists trade in their old vehicles for the new model, offering many options for used car buyers.
Volkswagen's Golf was recently awarded the prestigious World Car of the Year 2009 at the New York International Motor Show, demonstrating the model's quality.
However, despite its success at the event, figures from industry analyst firm JATO Dynamics found that for the first time in a year, the model has been knocked off top spot in the European sales charts.
The Fiesta was the most popular car in Europe during March, the study found.
