Car manufacturer VOLKSWAGEN has launched a new diesel-powered car at this year's Liepzig Motor Show.
The company has unveiled the new diesel-powered Golf GTD, which is the sister of the recently-launched Golf GTI.
Volkswagen claims its latest offering is a more efficient vehicle with an average fuel consumption of 53.3 mpg and a range in excess of 650 miles without having to fill up.
"Sharp responses and an agile chassis complement the car's substantial torque," the company added in a statement.
The launch could help to boost interest in used Volkswagen cars, as more people upgrade to the new Golf.
Earlier this month, Volkswagen's Golf range was awarded the maximum five-star rating for safety under the new EuroNCAP crash testing standards. The company has recently launched its new Golf GTI to a fanfare of publicity.
Recent statistics have shown that the used car market is continuing to trade strongly despite the current global recession, as many people seek out cheaper alternatives for their new car.
