Volkswagen unveils new performance diesel
May 7 2009 VOLKSWAGEN has made its new 2.0-litre diesel Scirocco GT performance vehicle available to order.
The car manufacturer advertises the vehicle, which is equipped with a TDI 170PS engine, as combining "effortless acceleration" with "the ability to return 53.3 mpg on the combined cycle".
In addition, the car comes with a six-CD auto-changer, multifunction computer, rain and dusk sensor and 2Zone air conditioning.
Motorists are also being offered the chance to have 19-inch Lugano alloy wheels with the Scirocco for the first time.
Volkswagen was celebrating earlier this year when its Gulf was named 2009 World Car of the Year at the New York International Motor Show.
Stefan Jacoby, president of Volkswagen Group of America, said at the time: "We are honoured that our new sixth generation Golf was named World Car of the Year."
It is hoped the continued success of the Volkswagen brand will keep sales up in both the new and used car markets as the global recession deepens.
