VOLVO has outlined improvements to two of its five-cylinder diesel engines to enhance CO2 output.
The D5 and the 2.4D have both undergone changes to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, which may be pleasing news to Car Finance customers hoping to invest in a greener model this year.
Model S80, V70, XC60 and XC70 are all fitted with the new technology as of spring this year, with the most significant reduction in emissions being noticeable in the XC60 and XC70 offerings, where carbon output has dropped by 14 grams per kilometre.
Derek Crabb, vice president of powertrain engineering at Volvo Cars, commented: "This is yet another step in our determination to reduce the combustion engine's environmental impact, at the same time as we give customers even more refined and sophisticated engines with excellent performance."
In related news, the firm's XC60 model was recently named sports utility vehicle of the year by magazine What Car?
