Volvo used to have a very staid, traditional image with many car finance buyers. Over the last few years the company has largely managed to change this image. The latest range of design changes, new engines and equipment recently announced by the company will no doubt further help the company to create a different image of their products.
The changes involve the XC70, S80 and V70 models and will include a brand new version of the companyís 1.6 litre DRIVe diesel engine.
Under the bonnet changes will concentrate largely on new engines. The 2-litre D3 and 2.4 litre D5 engines have both received major upgrades. The D5 now develops 215 brake horse power, an increase of 10bhp over the previous one. The car boasts 57 miles per gallon in manual form and 47mpg with an automatic gearbox.
The D3ís power output remains unchanged, but fuel consumption has been improved by 3 miles per gallon. The S80 now boasts 57.7 miles per gallon on the combined cycle. Figures for the V70 and XC70 are 54 miles per gallon and 51 miles per gallon respectively.
The upgraded 1.6 litre DRIVe diesel engine car finance buyers are already used to in the S60 and V60 models is now also available in the S80 and V70 models. Maximum power output is up by 6bhp to 115bhp and fuel consumption is claimed to be 62.8 miles per gallon on the combined cycle. CO2 emission levels have also been improved and now stand at 119g/km instead of the previous 129g/km.
