The finance you need The car you want

Car News

Aug 7 2008

Car Loans customers and business fleet managers may find new technology from VOLVO suits their needs.

The company's Powershift system has two parallel manual gearboxes and twin wet clutches that "work independently of each other".

According to the manufacturer, the system ensures gear changes are "rapid and smooth", meaning drivers can accelerate without compromising fuel economy – which may interest environmentally-conscious Car Finance customers.

John Wallace, corporate sales and leasing manager for Volvo Car UK, said the design of the Powershift system "has such a positive impact on key elements of the car" that the company is sure it will be successful.

"When you look at CO2, VED [vehicle excise duty] and fuel consumption Powershift makes sound business and environmental sense compared with other automatic gearboxes available in the market," he remarked.

In other news which may be of interest to those considering taking out Car Credit, Volvo recently unveiled details of its new XC60.

The car, priced from £24,750, will be available in showrooms in the autumn.
