Car manufacturer VOLVO has taken the wraps off a number of new models and some technological innovations that drivers will be able to take advantage of next year.
The company is to launch the new S80 executive saloon onto the market in 2010, while a number of its existing models will be relaunched to include a wide variety of innovative technology designed to improve fuel efficiency and cut carbon emissions.
"The Volvo C30 SportsCoupe, S40 saloon and V50 Sportswagon DRIVe models now all feature the intelligent new Start/Stop function which brings CO2 emissions down to 104 g/km and improves fuel consumption up to 72.4 mpg," the marque announced.
Among the other features to be enhanced is the company's satellite navigation system, which has been updated, while premium versions of the firm's cars now also come with dual band integrated GSM telephone and Volvo On Call systems.
The arrival of the new vehicles could result in an increase in the number of Volvos trickling through to the used car market, as more people choose to upgrade to the latest models.
Environmentally-friendly technology is becoming increasingly important to companies and motorists alike.
According to recent research from the RAC Foundation, as many as a fifth of British motorists would consider replacing their existing car with an electric vehicle in the coming five years.
