Overview

"2006 Vectra -Surprising!"

Exterior and Interior

Got the best combination for this one.. Metallic black exterior and black leather. The front-end revamp makes all the difference. Makes it much nicer to look at! 17' alloys help as well. The odd bits of chrome here and there help to make it stand out. Still getting favourable comments about it after 2 years of ownership! The interior is superb. Very comfortable leather seats. The only ones I have been able to be fully comfortable in for a long time. I can even pull the seats fully back and not be able to touch the pedals (I'm 6'3')! Loads of space, the boot is cavernous! It seems bigger than my last car, a Laguna estate! Everything about it feels good, all nice and solid, quality plastics etc. All the toys are there, sat-nav, one-touch windows all round, dual zone climate etc...

Performance and Economy

OK then, a 2.2 petrol automatic..Enough to put the frighteners on anyone at the pump? Not really, most of my driving is urban and I get 29mpg according to the computer. On a long run it goes up to between 50-44mpg. Roughly the same as a Laguna 2.2 diesel! As for perfomance, very strong acceleration, especially in the overtaking range, handling; goes around corners like it's on rails so long as the tyres are good (yes, I made that mistake!), Much better than the older model.

Like to Drive

In a word, enjoyable. Even though it's just another mass-produced Eurobox, it's surprisingly relaxing to drive. The autobox is very slick, very rarely do you realise you've just changed gear. It's got the option of shifting manually as well, so you can have a bit of fun with it if you want! <

Faults and Repairs

After 2 years of ownership, the alternator went after a couple of months and two springs were found broken at MOT time. I got a full years warranty with the car when I bought it, so no cost at all! Since then , i've had no problems with it. Still feels like a new car! Not bad for 4 grand!

Overview

"great car for an average sized family"

Exterior and Interior

All together a great vehicle and the service was great and very efficient. The interior of the car is still pristine just like the outside which only has a few scuffs on the alloy wheels so we are pretty pleased overall

Performance and Economy

Performance of this vehicle is okay but could be better, as with these Vauxhalls they have electronic throttles and can seem sluggish to respond. As for the economy, its not bad but could be better.

Like to Drive

Great to Drive as it's nice and smooth and touch wood has not let us down and if we take it out for a drive it seems to be even better in the economy department with lots of driving still left in her as it's only got low mileage and we keep her well fed and watered. <

Faults and Repairs

Only a couple to tell you about - the hybrid steering pump etc uses an awful lot of power sometimes making the lighting dim when turning the wheel (Dangerous in my opinion). There seems to be a knocking on the offside rear wheel which seems to still be there even though the purchasing garage says there is nothing wrong with either fault still.
