MINI has been busy working on a concept car to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next year. It is expected to be a two-seater vehicle with a much shortened wheelbase that could make it look similar to the Toyota iQ.
The company wants to introduce a compact model and thinks that to be the right strategy, however profitability concerns about the citycar sector remain. Companies making small cars are not able to make the kind of profits they can make from bigger cars.
The names being considered for this compact vehicle are MINI Minor as well as MINI Mini. The vehicle is ultimately expected to get a retro look similar to Spiritual which made its debut at Geneva. That was in the year 1997 and four years later, the famous Cooper made its presence felt in the market.
