It seems that Audi wants to take the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show by storm: the company will debut no less than three models at the show. These are the four-wheel drive S6 Avant and saloon, the S7 and the flagship S8. All of them are fitted with Audi's very latest dual-turbocharged four-litre V8 petrol engine.
When it comes to performance, Audi's answer is the S8. With its high-power dual-turbo engine delivering 650Nm of torque and 513 bhp, this car will no doubt kick dust in most competitors' eyes. If you would love to own one of these powerful beauties, make sure you have £90,000 in the bank.
The S8 is a four-wheel drive using a modified eight-speed Triptronic automatic transmission. It supports brake energy regeneration and auto stop-start. This, combined with the lightweight aluminium body, enables the car to deliver fuel economy of nearly 28 miles per gallon.
The acceleration figure of 4.2 seconds for the 0-100 sprint should be enough for most performance aficionados and the top speed of 155 miles per hour might just get you in jail if you are caught.
Several new technologies will make their appearance in the S8 for the first time, including what Audi calls ANC - active noise cancellation. This apparently virtually eliminates wind and engine noise. Styling tweaks include discreet S8 badges and polished aluminium-look door mirrors.
