Ford Remains UK Market Leader in November

Ford remained at the top of the sales charts in the UK during November 2011.  The company has so far also sold the most cars in the country for the year to date.  The best seller for the company (and the country) was the Ford Fiesta.  There was also a significant increase in Ford commercial vehicle sales between November 2010 and November 2011.

The Ford Transit and Ford Fiesta Van did particularly well in this regard.

The figures were released by the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) on the 6th December.  They show that total UK car sales dropped by 4.2% from November 2010 to November 2011.

Ford had a market share of 13.5% in November and the company sold 18,101 vehicles.  Interestingly enough, this represents a drop of 7.8% when compared to November 2010, which is higher than the average decline in sales for all manufacturers.

The Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus remained the two top selling individual models for the year to date.  The Ford Transit remains the most popular commercial vehicle in the country and it now has a market share of 22.1% (November) and 24.5% (year to date).

The Ford Galaxy, Ford Kuga and Ford C-Max models all recorded sales increases in November 2010 compared to the same month last year.  Sales of the Ford C-Max, in fact, more than doubled - from 666 to 2,050.  Ford Kuga sales went up from 875 to 917 and 822 Ford Galaxies were sold in November 2010, compared to 729 during November last year.
