Two cars have been honoured with major motoring awards in Scotland - the Toyota GT86 and the Kia Rio.
This year's Scottish Car of the Year awards saw the Toyota model voted best coupe, and the Kia Rio named Best Supermini by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writer's (ASMW)..
The GT86, which enjoyed a debut success on track in the Britcar 24 Hours race, won its category in Scotland's premier new car awards.
It was launched in July, featuring low weight and a low centre of gravity, with rewarding and responsive handling.
There were "cracking contenders" with the new coupe category, said association president John Murdoch, who presented the award to Scott Brownlee of Toyota.
He added that the Toyota amazed everyone, being "incredible to drive" and surprisingly light on fuel for a sporting coupe.
"For most of the year, it looked as though the voting would go one way. Then Toyota returned to the segment with a vengeance and amazed everyone," said Mr Murdoch.
Meanwhile, the Kia Rio fought off strong competition from Audi's A1 and Peugeot's 208 models for its triumph, being commended for style and value.
The Rio - the first vehicle in the annual economy-test, the MPG marathon, to break the 100mpg barrier - was chosen for several aspects: passenger comfort and space, the quality of the interior, reliability, low ownership cost and Kia's seven-year warranty.
ASMW President John Murdoch and his colleagues said it was the best all-round car in the small car market.
"To win this accolade is a tremendous honour for Kia and a remarkable victory for Rio over such excellent rivals in the segment," said Stephen Kitson, Kia's communications director, who accepted the award at the Glasgow ceremony.
Buyers have a choice of four engines and the range includes the first non-electric or hybrid car to deliver CO2 emissions of just 85g/km.
The range begins at £9,495.
