When it launches on October 1 Honda's fourth generation CR-V is expected to cost in the region of £18,000.
The design will be heavily based on the previous CR-Vs, although there are modifications. There is a small decrease in the height and length and the luggage space has got bigger, to 1,648 litres - up 148 litres. The front bumper features a horizontal three-bar grille, with headlights that are set deep, while there is a new nose design.
This new CR-V will be the first to have front-wheel drive as an option. To begin with this will only be available in petrol cars. The majority of the sales are still expected to come from the 4 x 4 version.
Taken from the previous generation models, the two new augmented engines will be the 148bhp 2.2-litre diesel and the 2.0-litre petrol, that boasts 153bhp.
A six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic are available on both engines, and Honda has reduced emissions on the petrol option to 173g/km of CO2 from 192g/km. On the diesel option emissions have been cut to 149g/km of CO2 from 171g/km, while a 1.6 diesel litre will be available in the coming months.
