Mazda3 MPS undergoes makeover

The high-performance Mazda3 MPS is undergoing a visual transformation to make it even more easy on the eye.

The revamp, as part of a number of upgrades to the Mazda3 range, will see the 155mph MPS's 18-inch alloy wheels now featuring a new gunmetal finish.

The inner roof spoiler, wing mirror casings and lower rear bumper trim will now be finished in black mica to give the car a sleeker effect.

Peter Allibon, sales director at Mazda UK, said: "Visual upgrades to the Mazda3 MPS complement its strikingly bold design, which boasts a dynamic, aggressive and assertive look, that sets it apart from the rest of the Mazda3 line-up and encapsulates the 'defy convention' philosophy of our brand."

The revised MPS retains the best asset of the previous model as it is still fitted with a powerful 2.3-litre MZR DISI turbo petrol engine.

The vehicle, which generates maximum power of 260ps at just 3,000rpm, is also fitted with dual exhaust pipes that deliver a raspy sound at low revs but reduce the noise levels at engine speeds of more than 5,000rpm.
