Vauxhall Ampera scoops another gong

Vauxhall´s electric Ampera model has been handed a prestigious Green Vehicle of the Year award after experts voted for its environmental credentials.

The car won the accolade at the 2012 Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) Awards, which are decided in an exclusive vote by members of the association

The awards are held in high esteem, as the ballot is carried out by fleet decision-makers, who have daily operational experience with the vehicles.

The innovative Ampera has won more than 40 major awards already, including What Car? Green Car of the Year, Top Gear magazine´s Green Car of the Year and the European Car of the Year award.

Julie Jenner, chairman of ACFO, said fleet decision-makers rely on vehicle manufacturers to provide cars which are reliable, safe, cost effective and green, while supplier firms are expected to provide excellent service.

She said the Ampera´s ground-breaking technology was "clearly very popular" with members of ACFO, and she offered her congratulations to Vauxhall for creating such a vehicle.

Vauxhall´s fleet sales customer relationship director, Maurice Howkins, said the firm was "delighted" that their vehicle had won the award and that it was great news that the vehicle and its "cutting edge" technology had received recognition from the association.
