Mini has come up trumps for the 11th year in a row in BusinessCar Magazine's awards, holding onto its "Supermini of the Year" title with the Mini Hatch.
The BusinessCar Awards are the only awards in the fleet car and van sector chosen by the public, which means they are considered one of the most important and relevant rankings in the industry.
Mini has been a long-term favourite among readers due to its classic design, long-life, low tailpipe emissions and good value depreciation.
BusinessCar Editor Paul Barker praised the car for its "brand prestige and fun-to-drive character". He said the car won its award due to its mix of performance and image and its longevity which saves drivers money.
He added: "It's a huge achievement, and illustrates the massive appeal in the corporate sector for a car with the qualities that the business car market relies on."
Low running costs are a vital factor for firms, and Mini has continued to build on its success during the past 11 years. Its prestigious Minimalism green economy features will be included across a range of models, including Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S, Cooper SD and John Cooper Works. The energy-saving technology includes Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start-Stop, Gearshift Indicator and Electromechanical Power Steering, providing tailpipe emissions starting at only 99g/km driving the Mini Cooper D.
The BusinessCar prize arrives as Mini gets ready to mark another special occasion with the centenary of its flagship Oxford factory in spring. The Mini factory started manufacturing the Mini Hatch in 2001 and has also produced a range of Mini models in its 100-year history.
At the same time, BMW Group and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), who signed a deal last year, are directing their lucrative partnership towards developing a fuel cell system, design and fixtures for a sports car, and study and innovation in the area of compact technology.
Moreover, BMW Group and TMC have also agreed to start a partnership to study and develop lithium-air batteries and a post-lithium-battery solution.
