Best Car Video of the Month – November

bestcarnovheaderjpg

This month’s Best Car Video is something of a follow up to last month’s choice (view the post here). After choosing Ken Block’s Gymkhana Five for October’s best car video, we discovered a parody video filmed by fans Ali Kermani and Todd Grossman of Razor USA. The parody mimics the stunts and manoeuvres which feature in the original Gymkhana Five video, but instead of a rally spec Ford Fiesta, they use a unique go-kart with a patented drift bar, allowing, as the name suggests, the driver to drift the cart in any direction.

This parody is not only hilarious (skip to 0:45 to see why) but also pretty impressive. Razor, a company who creates and sells ride-on products such as the featured Crazy Cart, produced the Ken Block parody using one of these carts, a warehouse and a man in a gorilla suit. Ali Kermani, who plays the parody role of Ken Box, handles the cart with some serious skill around the makeshift warehouse course, showcasing just how exciting one of these tiny vehicles can be. The Crazy Cart can be ridden like a normal go-kart, but also features a drift bar which allows the driver to drift forwards, backwards, diagonally, and any other possible direction they can manage. As such, despite having a low top speed of only 12mph, driving the cart can be an exciting, adrenaline filled experience and has proved to be hugely popular around the world. It also makes it perfectly suited for the Gymkhana parody, able to drift and make perfect donuts with the same accuracy as Block and his Ford Fiesta. The parody mimics Block’s gymkhana videos, including Block’s trademark donut manoeuvres, a makeshift box outfit for the cart with the distinctive Ford Fiesta painted on, and even their own version of the motorcycle stunt featured in Gymkhana Five. Add a comedy man in a gorilla suit and you’ve got the makings of a viral hit. With Gymkhana Six proving a huge success, we’re pretty sure that the popularity of this parody can only go up, and in our opinion, it is well deserved!
