Spending time with your family is the best part of the Christmas period. No matter how many presents you are given or how much turkey you eat, it’s the moments with your parents, children or friends that will leave the best memories. So you might want to find a few good ideas for things to do this festive season. We’ve put our heads together and done some mince pie fuelled research to find the best Christmas family days out. Here’s what we found:
If you can take a trip to London this Christmas, then a visit to Winter Wonderland has fun for the entire family. A mix between a funfair and a Christmas grotto, the event turns Hyde Park in London into something truly magical. You can go ice skating, scream on funfair rides, and eat some of the best festive food in the country. Plus you can visit Santa himself and make sure he knows just how nice you’ve been this year (no matter what your family might think!).
If you or your kids love Lego, then Legoland is THE place to be this Christmas. The usual Legoland rides and displays are all given a festive twist, with lights and lego bricks merging into a festive feast for the senses. The highlight is the 8 metre tall Christmas tree that will probably leave you feeling a little inadequate about the tree at home. A trip to the gift shop on the way out is the perfect way to finish off your trip, giving you a chance for some last minute gift shopping.
Edinburgh has one of the best events this Christmas with it’s Santa Land attraction. As well as the usual grottos and festiva food stalls, there is a spectacular Christmas themed circus show and a wall of ice that makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Lapland. Make sure you keep your kids close at the Children’s Market, as they are likely to be enthralled and enchanted by the amazing array of children’s gifts on offer. Finish your trip with a skate on the ice rink, before heading to the nearby Royal Botanic Gardens to see the light display.
