Running Costs and Price

Price and running costs for the Mercedes C-Classes vary wildly depending on the engine and specification you choose. The fact the C220 CDI is so popular is down to its economic diesel engine, which can manage an impressive 64.2mpg when ordered with the six-speed gearbox thanks to the BlueEFFICIENCY upgrade that Mercedes introduced with this model.

When taking out car finance there are a few different options available to you, depending on your circumstances. Hire purchase is our most traditional product, but if you have good credit, you may be eligible for our popular PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) option, which can lower you monthly payments significantly, especially on prestige cars like the C-Class. Take a look at our car finance calculator to find out how much you could afford on car finance.

Mercedes have always had a good reputation when it comes to reliability, and the C-Class is no exception. It feels well built and no major recurrent issues have been reported by owners of the cars thus far. Mercedes offer a decent warranty on new cars, as well as Mercedes Mobilo Roadside Assistance, which is free for the first four years of ownership, as long as the car is serviced at a franchised dealership.

Safety is of absolutely no concern in the C-Class, which gained a maximum 5 star rating in EuroNCAP tests. Mercedes are a pioneer in safety, and the C-Class has a number of safety features as standard that go beyond what other manufacturers are offering. There are seven airbags as standard, and the option to have the PRE-SAFE system installed which prepares for a crash by linking up the brake assist and electronic stability programme whilst also tensing the seatbelts, adjusting the driver’s seat position and closing the sunroof.

The Mercedes C-Class is an executive saloon, and built with motorway miles in mind. There’s plenty of head and leg room both in the front and the back, and the car is remarkably quiet, other than a little tyre noise at high speeds. In terms of comfort, it’s top quality.

There’s a lot of competition in the executive saloon market – our most financed car in 2013 was the BMW 3 – Series, one of the primary competitors to the Mercedes C-Class. With Mercedes upping their game, the C-Class is seeing a revival of sorts, and increasing numbers of our customers are obtaining car finance for these cars via Creditplus. If the Mercedes isn’t quite your thing, why not take a look at the car finance deals available for the Audi A6 or the Vauxhall Insignia?
