Following on from yesterday’s announcement of the new Mclaren car, Sauber have today unveiled their new C34 car for the 2015 Formula One season.

There has been a lot of pressure on Sauber in recent months, not only because of the worst season of their twenty year F1 existence in 2014. The announcement of new driver Felipe Nasr was greeted with more disdain from fans, the idea of “seats for hire” becoming more and more unpopular. The recruitment of a Brazilian driver alongside sponsorship from “Banco do Brazil” only added fuel to the fire.

As always, what will matter is the performance of the car on the track. Sauber have today unveiled their new C34 car, which they hope will push them to a better final position than 11th in the constructors championship. Alongside newcomer Felipe Nasr, Marcus Ericsson will hope to improve on last season’s results. Having finished with zero points, the only way is up.

The new C34 Ferrari powered car has had a slight alteration to its nose, with the new Sauber having the most rounded of all the 2015 cars revealed so far. Slightly less performance related, the 2015 car has a striking new livery, a bold blue and yellow colour scheme that hints at just how much influence the Brazilian sponsors have over the team.

Team principal Monisha Kaltenborn is optimistic for the new season: “I am delighted about our two new drivers who bring a breath of fresh air. Both are young, talented and highly motivated.”

Mercedes

In addition to Sauber’s announcement, Mercedes have released a sneak preview of their new F1 car. Rosberg and Hamilton have been out testing this week, and the first images have appeared online.
