What is the process of making an online car finance application?

We’ve tried to make our application process as simple as possible, by asking you to fill out a basic online application form and assigning you a dedicated, expert Customer Advisor to guide you through the process from start to finish. However, we understand that you may still have a question about how applying for car finance works, so we’ve answered the most common ones below.

Why do you need my details?

When you apply for car finance online we take essential details in order to get a thorough picture of your credit history and risk of lending. Using these details we're able to make an instant decision regarding whether or not we can lend to you by doing a soft search that will not affect your credit score. We can then provide you with a car finance quote tailored to your personal circumstances.

How long does it take to get a decision?

When you apply for car finance with us, we can provide an online decision based on the information that you've provided us. We run a soft search which doesn’t affect your credit file, and identify lenders who may be able to help you. At this stage, we provide a loan offer that is subject to the information that you've supplied as being correct. If this information is inaccurate, we reserve the right to retract our loan offer at a later stage. Once we know which lenders will provisionally accept you, we'll propose you to the most suitable lender who can get you the best deal. This involves a full credit search, but because we've already assessed your credit score using the soft search, it's unlikely that you wouldn't be accepted by the lender.

In optimum circumstances it can take as little as 48 hours for the money to be transferred to the seller of the car after this point, though this is dependent on the lender you're using and how quickly you send the required documents and proofs to us.

Why do you need 3 years employment history?

When you apply for car finance online, it's important that we have details of your past employment history so that we can accurately assess your credit history.

How long can you keep an offer open for me whilst I look for a vehicle?

We're able to keep most offers open for around 30 days, dependent on the lender. However it's advisable to contact your Customer Advisor for more detailed information. If you're having trouble sourcing a vehicle yourself, we can find it for you and even have it delivered to your door.
